Rose

I want to show you a face of a courageous woman who graciously allowed me to share in her precious moments with a photo session. Her name is Rose. She’s in the late stages of breast cancer. Cancer, as we know, is no respecter of persons. It can come on anyone whether young or old, rich or poor, healthy or just a couch potato. One thing is common though, they all want to live another day. I’m happy that I was able to capture forever a peaceful moment in time for Rose and her family.

Donations sent into OutReach Photography is providing photos to Rose free of charge.

You made a difference.

Studio Open

I am accepting appointments for portrait sessions now.

My photography is donation based. Donations go to two places. First they help Mosaic of Wichita with helping the needy get back on their feet. Second the donations help me help the less fortunate afford to get photos done as well. Think of teenagers unable to afford a nice senior photo but their parents can’t afford it. I can help.

I will do free photo sessions, no donation required for immediate family of deployed or deploying military and senior citizens.

If you have a farm or own a interesting property locally please contact me.  I need locations to do photos shoots and I would love to provide unlimited photos of your family for free in exchange for limited access to your property for photo sessions.

I will do outdoor locations weather permitting . There will be prepaid fee based on distance and time allotted. My car needs gas and I need to eat out of the house.

As an example  - In my home studio consider a donation of $50 for 1 hour and you can pick 4 fantastic shots for post editing. I’ll include 2 – 8×10 and 4 – 5×7 with options to order more. For $20 or less and we’ll get one great shot to include post editing and you can order and pay for photos separately. Important events require a more time and planning so bring a considerable donation to make it worth my time.

You can contact me at 316-303-4752 and leave a message or email me at dory(at)outreachphotography(dot)org and I will get back with you promptly.

With that being said - I will need to make a little off these sessions to replace worn equipment and to upgrade over time otherwise when my camera fails that would spell an end to my photography.

Cancer Outreach

I have a friend not living but an hour away facing cancer on her own. She has bills to pay and needs assistance getting things back on track. Chemo isn’t cheap, nor doctors, gas, food, rent, or feeding an understanding pet that’s been with her all this way. The government is being slow to assist while rent falls another month behind. Thankfully a landlord understands but still, that person has bills to pay as well and can’t take much more of absorbing the rent. Over on the left is a donation button and I need you to click that and send what you can. As always, OutReach Photography gives 100% of all donations to those that need it. cancer

Location Location Location

I’m always on the hunt for new and unique locations to shoot photographs from. If you know any big land owners that don’t mind someone with a clean footprint in the Butler, Sumner, Cowley or Sedgwick counties please let me know. I love fields, old barns, farmhouses and equipment, livestock and wildlife and people who keep this Nation going. I will always treat the land of another with great respect and leave it better than I found it.

That being said, long before this even came to light, I have felt this way every time I stand on the edge of a field. I know what work has went into making a life out of the land.

Mosaic Update

The auction took place a few weeks ago and the building Mosaic is in sold for nearly $80,000 to a local bank who plans to take the building down and create a parking lot for their business.

That means Mosaic is being forced to move and we still need to raise the money to assist with purchasing a suitable building for the work that needs to be done. They are looking at getting a bank loan but the down payment is a major step to getting this done. The drawing for the gallery print will continue to run till this is over with.

Mosaic Fund Raiser Continues

Still Pushing to raise funds for Mosaic of Wichita.

In Short Mosaic is a Church that is open door. A vast majority of the people there are homeless. It’s that way because of 3 things. First is location. Being in the middle of downtown Wichita it’s very close to many other social programs. Second Mosaic has a open door. They doesn’t discriminate against anyone and will never turn anyone away seeking help. Third, Family. Mosaic cares about people and reaches out to the isolated and discarded. I also help there with various functions on a limited bases due to work requirements.  We never treat anyone as a number or dollar figure at Mosaic. Everyone who comes in is treated with respect.

Last month, Mosaic was told by the building owners, (building is rented) that the property was being auctioned off on 11 Jan 2013. Giving them only a few short weeks including the holidays to come up with the money to either buy the building or move. Problem with moving is location, we need a building in the downtown area close to other social programs. Second is money, we need to raise about $50,000 to place a bid on the building. Even if we do find a new location it will cost money to rent/buy that new home.

Last date to have the money to purchase the building – 10 January 2013
Last date to have the money to move Mosaic – 10 February 2013

Here’s my part. Donate through my my website and on 11 February I will randomly choose a donor to win one of my photos to be printed up and shipped a signed gallery print.

Rework

I’m reworking the page to make it easier to navigate the many images I have on the website. Now you can see the title of the image unlike before where you was limited to the photo itself. Just click on the image and you can see a nice zoomed in version. At the bottom of each page there is a order form. Remember everything I have is sold at cost where others well, charge you an arm and two legs. I just ask for a donation to support the community on top of cost.

URGENT

Tuesday 4 December I received a call  from Mary Furches, Pastor Mike Furches wife of Mosaic. She was very concerned with a meeting they was called to from the Bank Officer that handles the rent on the Mosaic facility. Pastor was told that on 11 January 2013 the property was going to be place on auction. Previous attempt at purchase was beyond the Church’s means as the owner was wanting $276,000. On top of that the building is in need of over $200,000 in structural repairs. Repairs are not beyond our capabilities  as most items could be gained through donations and fund raisers but to raise $476k for this building was well out of our reach.

Right now we are pushing for awareness and donations from anyone we can reach. It’s expected that the building Mosaic is in will auction for between $30k-$60k. That is NOT impossible if people are willing to support the good work Mosaic is doing. We’re not expecting one person to fund this church but a combination of all people from all walks of life and all beliefs to see that the good we do at Mosaic is out of LOVE not out of want.

Everyone that donates, please send your address with donation. You will be entered to win a gallery print from OutReach Photography.
Please read our Facebook page: Help SAVE Mosaic – Wichita, Kansas

And PLEASE donate to our cause. Even a single dollar can help!

If you care to send a check please make payable to Mosaic Church and mail to

For some reason this isn’t updating or people are using the donate button to the left. Right now we have just at $200 raised. Mike Furches has close to $10,000 raised. We need to work to get more funding as we expect the building to sell for between $20,000-50,000.

Thanks

The OutReach Photography page has his 50 likes yesterday. Not bad at all for a page that started on just 20 days ago. Thanks everyone and especially the new friends that I have met while out on my photo hunting adventures.

I really need help getting the word out about what OutReach Photography does. I sell photos at cost with requests for donations to help the needy in the Wichita area. The focus currently is with Mosaic of Wichita (http://www.mosaicwichita.com/) and 247 Street Ministries (http://www.247streetministry.com/).  For those friends in those ministries, things are kind of slow to get rolling, but this is the building time. Kind of like watching the roller coaster creeping up to the top of the first drop.

247 and Mosaic, Thank you most of all for what you do.

Starting to make progress

I’ve got the website up and running but now the long task of converting and uploading photos. I’ve got roughly 100,000 photos to go through, decide what’s worth calling fine art and what’s grunge art. Long long journey there in itself.

Since retirement from the military is coming soon I’m considering doing a few different things. I’m looking into moving efforts into personal photographer for hire. Theory is, again be cheap so everyone can afford me but not working out of pocket. Then selling photos in the same manner as currently used and taking suitable donations for photos ordered. I am considering a sitting and travel cost at the least. Again donations would be needed to help the project. But I am hoping to make a small profit to cover wear and tear on equipment through sitting fees but remaining nonprofit on the photos.
